Poor Noah

This week Noah has been a bit under the weather. He has also been complaining of a sore tongue, and had what looked like inflamed taste buds. Daniel had them too, but smaller and more widely spread.

Rebecca suggested that it could be thrush, even though there were no white patches, as Emily had had the same thing. I took the boys to the doctor on Thursday morning. He had the briefest of glances and said that it wasn't thrush, it was a virus and there was nothing to be done.

I dropped the boys off at school and preschool as they were fine otherwise. Later preschool phoned me to say Noah had become subdued and weepy and didn't seem well. When I went to fetch him they mentioned the three red spots on his cheeks - I told them that whenever he has a runny nose or post-nasal drip he doesn't swallow and just drools, and then gets those spots, but they said they thought it might be hand foot and mouth disease as they'd had a case there recently. I didn't think it was, as he had none of the other symptoms.

Anyway, tonight Noah was still complaining about a sore tongue and when I got him near a light and had a proper look, the whole back of his tongue is covered in white patches. THRUSH, ANYONE? My poor boy. Now we're scrambling to try to get some kind of treatment for him, on a Saturday night, because I don't want him to have to wait two more days to see the doctor and get some medication. GRRRRRR
