Valance detail

A while ago I came across this picture:

I'm not a huge fan of yellow but what I loved about this picture was the ribbon stripe on the white valance. Loved it!

So I bought a bunch of brown satin ribbon from eBay for dirt cheap. I had some of that iron-on webbing that Ikea always includes with their curtains to make hemming easy. I used that to iron the ribbon onto our white valance.

I didn't even remove it from the bed, just tucked the folded ironing board underneath and went to town.

I love how it turned out!! Here are a couple of taster pics only - there are a few more things I want to do in the bedroom before posting proper pics.

  1. How funny... Here, a valance goes over a window. I'm looking at the photos going, where's the valance? LOL! I figured it out. I love the border you put on there. It's so EVEN. If I had done it, it would have come out all wonky, I'm sure.

How on earth did you get the trimming so straight? Working on the floor like that???!!! WOW.

  3. In the first picture you can see a little grey rectangle. It's the lid of the plastic jewellery box that my freshwater pearls are in - I just lined that up with the bottom of the valance and then lined the ribbon up with the top of it, as I went around, to keep the spacing even.
