Amazing weekend

Weeks before we even left England I noticed on Facebook that my friend Amanda had marked that she would be attending an event called Time Out For Women (here is the Facebook page). I had a look and liked what I saw, and realised that we would be in New Zealand by the time the event rolled around so I asked Amanda if she could get me a ticket.

I am so glad I was able to go. It was UH-MAY-ZING. There were 1,500 women in attendance and we had the privilege of hearing Laurel Christensen, Virginia H Pearce, Brad Wilcox, Sheri Dew and Hilary Weeks speak and enjoying Hilary Weeks' amazing music and singing voice. All of the speakers were so funny and down to earth.

I don't write much about religion here on my blog. I've not talked about the fact that for a while I've been spiritually low and have had doubts and issues.

Yesterday changed everything. I feel like I understand, really get, some things that I should have understood years ago and which are fundamental to my testimony. I am on a bit of a high. I can't even express what a meaningful and transformative experience it was for me.

TOFW is organised by members of my church but it's open to everyone and it isn't "Mormon-y" - if you are a Christian you will enjoy it, no matter your particular denomination. If you have the chance to attend, please do. It may change your life.

Here is the TOFW website.

On Sunday we went to church then came home for some lunch and a bit of a nap. In the evening we headed out to Sunset Beach for a little while. I was hoping to photograph the sunset but there was a low, heavy cloud bank right at the horizon so it wasn't that showy. But we had a good time anyway and Grant got some mussels that he brought home and ate.
