Shoe straps

I have weird feet. They are flat and they are wide at the front, but very narrow in the heel so I struggle to keep shoes on that don't have a strap across the top.

I bought these adorable shoes the other day and thought they'd be fine:



But I find myself hanging onto them with my toes when I'm doing a lot of walking. They kept wanting to slip off my heels. So I pinned some black elastic to them ...



... and stitched the elastic in place. I didn't have black thread so I used white and later coloured it with a black marker so you don't see the stitches at all.



Voila, shoes that stay on! And the elastic straps are not seen at all when I have my jeans on.
