Each ward (congregation) were asked to provide a birthday cake representing Relief Society in our ward. I offered to do ours but asked the president if someone could come up with an actual design as all I could think of was a classic smiley face because everyone is so happy and friendly in our ward! She said, "What's wrong with that?" and added a suggestion of some flags representing the various nationalities in our ward.
So here's the cake I made - a smiley face, hearts and flags from New Zealand, Tonga, South Africa, Maori, Thailand, Cook Islands, Kiribati, Samoa and the UK. The inside of the cake was chocolate with a vanilla layer in the middle. The face was done with fondant and royal icing that I coloured black.
