2013 Books - January

Symphony of Secrets - Sharon Hinck

Another book by Sharon Hinck (Christian author) that I thoroughly enjoyed. Very descriptive, I could relate to main character, and I would recommend this book.

The Secret Life of Becky Miller - Sharon Hinck

This was the precursor to a book I read last year and enjoyed. Again, I found this book well written and I could relate to main character. I would recommend it.

Stepping Into Sunlight - Sharon Hinck

On a bit of a Sharon Hinck kick! I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

I've Got Your Number - Sophie Kinsella

This was one of our book club books, recommended by Cindy. I loved it and would recommend it.

Death at the Priory: Love, Sex, and Murder in Victorian England - James Ruddick

A non-fiction book. Interesting, but not gripping. Go ahead and read it if you're into this sort of thing, but not a "you-have-to-read-this!" kind of book.

Beneath the Glitter - Blair and Elle Fowler

I only read this youn-adult / teen book because I'm familiar with the authors' YouTube channels. It wasn't brilliantly written or anything but I mostly enjoyed it.

The Midwife's Confession - Diane Chamberlain

Recommend by my friend Ruth. Well written, really enjoyed it, would recommend.

Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe - Jenny Colgan

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes - Diana Gabaldon

Another in the Outlander series. Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend the entire series!

Summer of Love - Katie Fford

Pleasant enough, but forgettable.

I also wanted to mention two other books. I don't usually include books that I haven't read every word of, or books that I started but didn't finish, so I thought I'd start mentioning them here.

Young House Love - John and Sherry Petersik

I requested this book from the library because I've been following John and Sherry's blog for years. I looked through this book but didn't read every single word - you don't need to, unless you are wanting to tackle a particular project mentioned. It's packed with great ideas, is beautifully laid out and full of inspiration. I loved the book and would highly recommend it.

The Last Pleasure Garden - Lee Jackson

I just couldn't get into this book. If a book doesn't grip me in the first two chapters I move on. So this is one I didn't read.
