2013 Books - March

Family Album - Penelope Lively

This book was a little strange, but I enjoyed it. Not sure if it would be everyone's cup of tea.

The Secret Ingredient - Dianne Blacklock

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

Mrs Miniver - Jan Struther

I loved this book. The author has such a great way of writing and putting experiences into words. I highly recommend it.

The New Zealand Woman

80 years of articles, ads and issues of New Zealand Woman's Weekly magazine. I enjoyed it and found it interesting and entertaining. I would recommend it.

A Wedding in December - Anita Shreve

This was one of the book club books. It was okay. It took me ages to get into it. Didn't love it.

Perfect Stranger - Kay Schubach

This non-fiction book was the other book club book for the month. Not a pleasant subject and while I didn't hate reading it it wasn't a fun read either.

The Storyteller's Daughter - Maria Goodin

Recommended by a friend. A lovely story that made me weep a little. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Bed Rest - Sarah Bilston

Last month I read the book that comes after this one, so I had to pick this one up. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

The Diva Digs Up the Dirt - Krista Davis

Light murder mystery which I enjoyed and would recommend.

Explosive Eighteen - Janet Evanovich

I enjoyed this one as I've enjoyed all of the books in this series and would recommend them all - especially if you have a 12 year old boy's sense of humour.

Winter Garden - Kristin Hannah

Recommended by a friend. So sad in parts but I enjoyed it and would recommend it. I loved the twist at the end.

Stolen - Lesley Pearse

I enjoyed this book.

Plain and Simple: A Woman's Journey to the Amish - Sue Bender

A short non-fiction book that left me feeling like it wasn't quite enough. I guess I expected more experiences / anecdotes shared. Still, I enjoyed it and would recommend.

Books that I "read" but didn't read every word of:

Making the Most of Bed Rest - Barbara Edelston Peterson

I picked this book up to see if there was anything useful in it for this time period when I have to rest so much. Some of it was duh-obvious, but I did enjoy the personal experiences shared. Gave me some perspective.

Books that I just couldn't get into and thus didn't finish reading:

Good Wife - Elizabeth Buchan

The Casual Vacancy - JK Rowling

The Bohemian Girl - Kenneth Cameron
