Hi all! I haven't been around much because my dad is visiting (from South Africa), Grant is on leave and the boys are on summer holiday, so uninterrupted time has been pretty much zero. We've been camping and out and about and I have a ton of photos but I haven't even taken them off my camera yet.
While I may not be blogging much right now, I have created A Thousand Words Facebook page, and if you head over there and 'like' it you'll see sneak peeks, Instagram photos, updates and other goodies.
One of the pieces of info I've recently shared on there is the sad news that we had to say goodbye to Kiki, one of our chickens. She'd been fighting an infection in her mouth for a long time and we'd tried various medications without much success (even having a sample analysed by a lab to be sure what we were dealing with). She very suddenly took a turn for the worse and wasn't able to stand, walk or eat. We had to make the heart-wrenching decision to put her to sleep so that she wouldn't suffer any more. We miss her so much - our little flock just isn't right without her. But I'm glad that she isn't suffering anymore - we were always worried about her.
