Things To Look for in Your Next Home

Moving to a new location can be overwhelming and exciting at the same time. If you have moved homes, you will understand all the emotions that go into it. However, simply moving to a new home in the same city can also mean a whole new experience. The decision should not be taken lightly. It is something you need to ponder on until you feel confident about the move. Here are a few things you need to look for in your next home.

(Larger) Kitchen Island

A lot of us have had smaller and larger homes throughout our lives, but you will always feel happiest with a larger kitchen. Your current home maybe beautiful with a lovely kitchen but if you were to move tomorrow, you should be on the lookout for a larger kitchen island. One that has another sink built-in and can also serve as a secondary dining area would be ideal. Cooking can be one of the greatest joys and how your family often gets together, and having a larger kitchen island will allow for more counter space and storage space. If you are someone who often hosts dinner parties, a larger kitchen will be a great idea for you to move around and cook delicious meals.

Guest Room

Your current home could be perfect for your family but not for the visitors. Unfortunately, if you do not have an additional room for when guests come, they will either have to make peace with the couch, or one of your children will have to give up their room. This could be hard on them and the guest, and it can feel like an invasion of privacy. You know the kids will eventually move out, but it would also be good to just have an additional guest room, at least for now. We all love our family and friends, and it would be great to be able to offer them a place to stay when they are in town. Extra company is always enjoyed! It would also make the kids happier about a visit from a loved one if they knew they could keep their room.

Replace Carpet with Hardwood

Carpets get dirty, no matter how diligently you vacuum or how much you pay for the premium carpet. It is not easy to upkeep or clean, but not everyone can afford a turn-key home with premium wood floors. The easier way is to replace the carpet with hardwood if need be. The price will be well worth it, especially if you are planning to stay in the home long-term. In addition, hardwood looks beautiful and keeps for a long time. It would be a great investment for the home.

Whole House Water Filter

A lot of areas have just been met with contamination in the water supply. The fungicide found in the water was considered a health hazard and fifty times more contaminated than allowed by the EU. This can scare a lot of people in town and is also one of the times you wish you had a whole house water filter. You may wonder how does reverse osmosis work before learning about its use in water filtration. This technology has been popularized by many brands to remove large amounts of contaminants in water by pushing the water under a semi-permeable membrane. The news was a shock to many, and if you could do it all again, wouldn’t you have installed a whole house water filter? You maybe fortunate enough to not fall sick from the contaminated water but the chances of it happening can be many. Hence, always look for a house that has a whole house water filter and make it a top priority.

A Large(r) Outdoor Area

If you are lucky enough to have a home in a large space of land, your kids will have a great place to play and you can enjoy the greenery during the months of summer. It will also allow you to have a home garden and host barbecue nights with your loved ones. There is never too much greenery and if you have to move to a new home, look for maximum outside space and try to make the most of the open space.

You may not have any plans to move currently, but the future is always a mystery. If you are ever on a house hunt, keep this checklist in mind and try to check off the majority of it whenever and wherever possible.
