I'm stressed, therefore I sew

I've been really good about containing my work to Tuesdays and Thursdays when Noah is in nursery and Daniel is at after-school club, which means I actually free up some time in the evenings for leisure. Well, and for housework, but we wouldn't want to waste that precious time, now would we? No. I didn't think so.

So here are a couple of things I've been working on - I've also been sewing bibs and nappy pouches to stock up for the table-top sale that I'm going to have a table at, at Daniel's school next month.

First, Daniel's trick-or-treat bag. I sewed this without him around so the strap (which is to go across his body) is a little long, hence the knot at the top. As he gets taller I'll be able to undo the knot and voila, the strap will be lengthened. Let's pretend I meant it that way. Very sensible.

The ghost is appliqued on with button eyes and mouth.

The bag is lined in autumn-hued fabric.

And then today I sewed myself another apron. The first one I made a while ago was just a test apron, so I didn't really think about fabric too much, just used old stuff I had. For this one I chose toile, which I love (and Grant doesn't, so I can't use it in decorating) and teamed it with some red gingham ribbon for the straps and a scrap of red check fabric which was the perfect size for the pocket. I sewed buttonholes at the waist to thread the ribbon through so it's not hanging on my neck. I'm really pleased with how it came out, especially as I created the pattern myself!

(Please excuse how rough I look, I've been out and about in the rain so I didn't make an effort with my hair.)
