I decided to brighten up the glass cabinets and add some interest. Here's how they looked before, closed and open:

I bought some colourful gift wrap - it came in a pack of two sheets for about £1.25 - and stuck it to the back of the cabinets with a few small pieces of double-sided tape. Here's a close-up of the pattern:
Ta-da! Bright and cheerful. I'll probably tire of the paper quickly for that very reason (too bright, busy and bold) but it's quick and cheap to change. For now, it makes me happy.
