Little reader

I've always loved to read. In fact, I taught myself to read before I started school. I've always hoped that my kids would have a love of books too and that they'd enjoy some of the same novels I had as a child. Before Daniel started school i would read Enid Blyton books to him and he loved it (we're still doing it, but not as often.)

When Daniel started reading I think it felt like hard work to him. But once he became comfortable with the process he could relax and enjoy the story - and the love of reading took over. I am so thrilled that he enjoys books so much. He reads so quickly now that he actually reads faster than Grant does!

On Wednesday afternoon I found him in the back garden on a couple of chairs enjoying an ice lolly and a Horrid Henry library book that I'd chosen for him. It makes me so happy to see him so engrossed in the story.
