Cardboard plant pot

Nic gave me this beautiful plant when we moved in.

I've yet to buy a pot for it though. I've not seen anything that I like that I can afford so it was sitting in a metal dish I had that I don't really use.

I decided to make a pot out of cardboard since we have piles of it still. I drew up a quick plan with some measurements:

Then I cut it out of cardboard:

I scored the folds with the back of a butter knife:

Then I folded the flaps up and taped them with packing tape:

I used some fabric I had and hot-glued it on - just a big band that went all the way around and folded over the top and under the bottom a little.

And here it is, a nice disguise for the black plastic pot / bowl combo. It cost me nothing and I can add ribbon, twine etc later if I so choose.

And for those who noticed, yes I have hung a couple of pictures on the wall. It's a slow process as those clean release strips and hooks are pricey! I will blog the changes once I've hung a few more.
